What work should be released and taken away at the pacemaker?

Question #7:  What consistent increment of work should be released and take away at the pacemaker process?

How will we provide “takt image” to the pacemaker, and how frequently will we check production there?  To establish pitch we can multiply takt time x pieces per pallet or half pallet, to establish a takt image that provides the necessary feedback  frequency to take corrective action.

What we are seeking to accomplish is paced release of work instructions and paced withdraw of finished goods at the pacemaker.   At every pitch increment a material handler brings the next kanban (the next increment of work) to the pacemaker process and moves an increment of finished goods to the finished goods area.  If there is no pitch increment of goods ready to move than we know there is a production problem that needs our attention.
